UNISON organise an National Stars in our Schools day annually, to celebrate all the good work that support staff do in schools up and down the UK.

The Thurrock Branch of UNISON have an annual award and Malcolm was this years deserved winner. Malcolm is described as cheerful, resilient and passionate in his whole hearted support of Thameside Primary and the children that attend the school. He is excellent at his job and is always the first to volunteer for extracurricular activities, even giving up his weekends.

Malcolm has also recently won a Thurrock Education Award. He was presented with his award and prize at a special assembly at Thameside Primary school by the Mayor of Thurrock and the school also received a trophy in recognition of having such wonderful support staff. The competition was tough with nominations flooding in but Malcolm's dedication and commitment shone through. Despite retiring 3 times from previous employment, he was nominated for being one of the most enthusiastic and energetic members of staff.
