AN electrical fault in a car awaiting export at the Port of Tilbury set four other cars alight.

Three fire crews were called to St Andrew’s Road in Tilbury around 9.23am this morning, and managed to put the fire out in twenty minutes.

A spokesman for the port said: “We confirm there was a fire in one of our storage areas at the port which contained parked vehicles awaiting export.

“The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical fault in one of the cars resulting in the cars alongside being affected.

“No one was hurt during the incident and the fire services contained the situation quickly.”
