THE mayor was first in the queue for tickets to a show being held to celebrate the opening of Thurrock’s first opera arena.

Cllr Anne Cheale, the borough’s mayor, bought the first tickets to the Purfleet Opera of Ludd and Isis.

It will see professional dancers, singers and musicians from the Royal Opera House perform alongside a Thurrock cast to mark the opening of the High House Production Park, in Purfleet.

The Ludd and Isis community opera features more than 1,000 people from the borough. The production will feature professional singers as well as a community chorus featuring people aged from five to 80.

Performances are being held on Tuesday, December 7, and from Thursday, December 9, until Saturday, December 11.
