The big picture: Tense thriller set on and under the streets of New York, stylishly directed by Tony Scott. When a highly armed gang led by Ryder (John Travolta) hijacks a subway train and holds the passengers to ransom, subway operator Walter Garber (Denzel Washington) has one hour to outwit Ryder and save their lives.
