A THURROCK music group is celebrating success at the Leigh-on-Sea Music Festival.

Pupils from The Woolmer Music Group were placed in both the piano and violin categories at the festival.

May Cameron Buckland , aged seven, came second in the seven years and under piano solo category, despite only having lessons for four months.

Allegra Woolmer-Doe, five, won the piano solo for the six-years and under category with an honours scoring of 86/100.

She also competed in the violin solo seven years and under category, and violin solo set piece category and won both..

Joshua Aldinckle-Povey and Alisha-angel Ponsonby, both eight-years-old, took part in the violin solo eight to nine years category and both received Merits.

Their teacher Hannah Woolmer said: “I was really surprised at their success in this competition especially as many of them have not been playing for long at all.

“They all practice extremely hard and many also attend The Woolmer Music Group Junior String ensemble on Wednesdays so they are extremely dedicated”.
