CHAIR Maggie Whitbread welcomed members old and new and visitors. She reported that the three Wii machines are up and running at: Mulberry Court, Purfleet, Priestly Court, Grays and Kynoch Court, Stanford-le- Hope.

They have been enthusiastically welcomed and have attracted many members wishing to join the groups. She reported that there were still vacancies for the 'Tinsel & Turkey' holiday from November 14 to 17.

In the absence of a speaker, members were asked to give a talk on their life experiences that resulted in a very instructive and entertaining session covering caravan camping abroad, a career in nursing leading to a career as a University lecturer, and the problems of bringing up a child with profound hearing difficulties.

Our members had a wonderfully entertaining afternoon atthe BBC studios watching two recordings of the Alan Titchmarsh show.

In December a group of fifty will be travelling to the historic city of Winchester to shop at the German style Christmas market and time will be spent exploring the Cathedral, Military Museum and the Ice Rink.

Our annual lunch will take place at the Civic Hall on December 10.
