AS a resident of Chadwell Road, Grays, I feel someone should speak up and complain about the endless nightmare we have for parking after a hard day’s work.

There is only one row of houses on our part of the road and enough parking spaces for all.

If people only had one car per household, as it is there is one property in particular that has been turned into bedsits who have no less than six vehicles two of which are large vans.

The situation is getting out of hand as those of us with one car have to resort to parking on the path the opposite side of the road and block the path for passers by, this in turn has resulted in many cars being vandalised at a very expensive cost to owners.

My car alone has had three replacement side mirrors, the aerial has been snapped off and my car has been keyed, along with many others in the street.

We even get shoppers from Southend Road parking along the road, all I ask for is some consideration for residents of Chadwell Road.

I have approached Thurrock Council for parking permits that all residents are willing to pay for to safeguard our cars, but good old Thurrock Council have said they can not help.

Surely there must be a way of sorting this out in an amicable manner as it is becoming very frustrating to all residents and tempers are beginning to flare.

Anon,
Chadwell Road, Grays.
