SIX people have been fined by magistrates at Basildon for littering outside bin sheds on Thurrock Council housing estates.
All six appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Friday and admitted leaving litter close to their own homes.
Lisa Fletcher, of River Court, Purfleet, was fined £175 and ordered to pay £200 in costs.
Lee Hardy and Tara Dowman, both of Eden Green, South Ockendon, were each fined £175 with costs of £200 as were Zoe McNeill, of Dart Green, South Ockendon, and Mohammed Bouricha, of Avon Green, South Ockendon.
Kim Cook, of Marine Court, Purfleet, was fined £75 with £50 in costs.
Thurrock Council’s Portfolio Holder for Public Protection, Councillor Ben Maney, said: "This just reinforces the message that Thurrock Council will not stand for this sort of anti-social behaviour.
"Court action is not our first choice, but when we have to do it we will? and several other cases are pending.
"People should take note: Thurrock Council will act against people who litter."
