A WOMAN who was involved in a hit and run incident has thanked the good Samaritans who stopped to help.

Kathrine John, 24 of Trent, East Tilbury was driving along Corringham Road towards Stanford-le-Hope High Street at 8pm on Tuesday October 14 when a silver Ford Focus overtook a bus, which was travelling behind her, and collided with her Vauxhall Corsa before speeding off.

Miss John was waiting to turn into Manor Road at the time of the collision.

She said: "This person then proceeded to collide with a brick wall before again taking flight.

I’d like to thank all the people who came to my rescue.

"I was unable to move the car from the middle of the road as the Ford Focus had damaged my steering making my car undriveable.

"A large group of teenagers, who I initially thought would be a nuisance, were very helpful and supportive to both the police and I.

"They also helped to push the car from the middle of the road while waiting for the police to arrive."

It wasn’t only the group of teenagers that came to help, a man in a transit van stopped to ask if he could help.

He then informed Miss John what was wrong with her car and organised the teenagers to push the car from the dangerous position it was in.

Miss John would also like to thank Corringham PCSOs who were on the scene quickly.

She added: Unfortunately no one was able to obtain a registration number for the car that hit me so I have no driver to claim against.

"However, I am just pleased that nobody was hurt including my nan and my partner’s mother who were in the car with me.

"I am disgusted that someone can drive off without checking we were ok."

Essex Police confirmed they are looking for the driver of the silver Ford Focus.
