GRAYS Branch Royal British Legion launched their Poppy Appeal on Friday, October 10 with a ham and chips supper dance held at Tilbury Community Centre.
This was attended by Thurrock MP Mr Andrew Mackinlay and his wife Ruth, members of the Burma Star, Merchant Navy, Thurrock Invalid Association, Far East Veterans Association and past members of 215 Squadron RCT TA who were stationed at Grays for many years.
In June a reunion of past members of the Grays TA also celebrating 100 years of the TA, was held.
The money donated at this reunion was for the Poppy Appeal (2008) and a cheque for £530 was presented on Friday night to the Grays Poppy organiser Margaret Haynes by Mark Hull from 215 Squadron.
