A TV, phone and jewellery were stolen by burglars.
The crooks broke into the house in Silverlocke Road in Grays by forcing open the rear french doors, causing £200 damage.
Once inside they stole a 42inch Philips plasma TV, a silver Dell laptop, a Gucci women’s watch, and £1,200 cash as part of a haul worth a total of £7,900.
Laura Anderson of Basildon police said: “Due to the time of the incident and the amount of items taken, someone must have seen something suspicious in the area and would urge them to contact police.”
Witnesses to the break-in, which happened between 12.30pm and 3.40pm on Tuesday, August 26, are asked to contact Basildon police on 0300 333 4444.
