CROOKS stole scrap and sheet metal after conning security guards.
The three thieves drove up to security guards at the yard of the Ikea store in Heron Way, Grays.
They told the security guard that “Steve” had sent them and they were coming to pick up some scrap metal.
The men then loaded scrap and sheet metal worth £20 on to their truck before driving away with their haul.
Police are now hunting the three men and are appealing for witnesses.
The three men are all described as white, aged in their late 20s to early 30s and spoke with an Irish accent.
One wore a yellow builder's helmet, another wore a blue t-shirt and the third man wore black trainers and a black top.
Witnesses to the theft, which happened between 11.25am and 11.30am on Friday, July 18 are asked to contact police at Grays on 0300 333 4444.
