An unusual former chapel in an Essex seaside town has gone on the market with a guide price of £135,000.

The property, known as The Chapel, is in Harold Road, Clacton-on-Sea, and is set to be sold by public auction on Wednesday, November 11.

The listing describes the building as a vacant two-bedroom detached former chapel which is in need of refurbishment.

However, it also says the property has "potential for redevelopment", subject to obtaining all the relevant consents.

Arranged across two floors, the former chapel currently has a reception room and kitchen on the ground floor.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a bathroom, while the property also benefits from a garden.

The freehold property is situated on a residential road, with local shops and amenities nearby.

Clacton Beach is also described as being within easy reach, while Clacton-on-Sea railway station provides transport connections.

Potential buyers are advised in the listing that legal documents for the property are available through the auctioneer's legal pack.

The next open-house viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, between noon and 12.30pm, with further viewings listed for Saturday, November 7 and Tuesday, November 10 at the same time.
