A van has suffered serious damage after it reportedly crashed into a railway bridge.

The Dreams van has been pictured with its roof shaven off after appearing to have passed underneath the bridge at Manningtree.

It appears to have passed from the Manningtree side heading towards Brantham.

Pictures posted on social media show the roof and the side of the van have suffered serious damage as a result of the suspected crash.

The incident is not causing any traffic issues at this time.

The bridge is frequently hit by vehicles passing under it, most recently in May when a van driver was unaware of the damage and continued to drive with its roof damaged.

A member of the public called 999 shortly before 7.30am on May 8 at the time.

On that occasion officers from Essex Police located the vehicle within 15 minutes of the call, with roads policing officers also attending the scene.
