Drivers are set to face continued disruption after a water company confirmed traffic diversions will remain in place until early next week.

Broomfield Road in Chelmsford has been affected between Parkway and First Avenue.

Delays have also been reported on Chelmer Valley Way as motorists divert around the disruption.

Essex & Suffolk Water has now confirmed its engineers have finished repairing the leak.

Work is still needed to reinstate the road before normal traffic arrangements can resume.

An Essex & Suffolk Water spokesperson said: “Our engineers have completed a routine repair to a leak on Broomfield Road in Chelmsford.

“The final stage of this essential work is to reinstate the road, which we expect to be completed by early next week.

“Traffic diversions will remain in place until then.

“We're sorry for any disruption and would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding.”
