Firefighters have urged drivers to think carefully about where they leave their vehicles after a crew was delayed responding to an incident.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service shared a striking photograph showing one of its large fire appliances attempting to negotiate a residential road with cars parked on either side.
The image shows the appliance facing an extremely narrow gap between the vehicles.
Posting the photograph on Facebook, the fire service initially challenged residents: "Can you take a guess at what happened here?"
It later confirmed in the comments that the crew had been unable to get through and that this had delayed firefighters on their way to an incident.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "Yep we couldn't get through... which means our crews were delayed to an incident. Check where you are parked and think - could an emergency vehicle get through?"
The service's warning serves as a reminder for motorists to consider whether larger emergency vehicles would be able to pass when choosing where to park.
The photograph shows a fire appliance in the road with vehicles parked on both sides, leaving limited room for it to pass.
