A gift campaign has been launched in Thurrock to help give vulnerable children a Christmas to remember.
Thurrock Council and Impulse Leisure are encouraging residents to participate in their joint "Give a Gift" campaign.
The initiative aims to ensure vulnerable children in Thurrock and those at Little Havens Children's Hospice receive presents on Christmas Day.
Residents are invited to donate toys and gifts at any Impulse Leisure centre.
In return, those who donate two or more toys will receive a £50 discount on a new gym membership at the centres.
The leisure centres accepting donations are Blackshots in Grays, Corringham on Springhouse Road, and Belhus Park Golf & Country Club in South Ockendon.
Financial contributions towards gift cards for Thurrock's vulnerable children over the age of ten can also be made through Thurrock Council's online collection pot.
Donations will be welcome until Friday, December 12.
Vikki Hartstean, councillor responsible for children's services, education, and community safety, said: "No child should have to wake up without a gift on Christmas day, so I’m absolutely delighted that Give a Gift has returned for another year.
"It is a truly wonderful campaign, and when I visited the Blackshots Impulse Leisure centre last year, it was heart warming to see how our communities had come together to donate such a vast array of gifts.
"Together, we can ensure every child feels special during this festive season."
Karl Hayes, managing director at Impulse Leisure, echoed this sentiment, added: "By taking part in this special initiative, we can help to ensure every vulnerable child in our borough can experience the magic and joy of Christmas."
