Search the Public Notice PortalA new 10-year Local Development Order has been approved for the London Gateway Logistics Park.
The order, sanctioned by Thurrock Council, will facilitate the expansion of DP World's logistics hub in Essex and the creation of new jobs.
It will streamline planning processes for new construction projects, all of which will meet the BREEAM "Outstanding" classification.
This means new builds at the park will receive final approval within 28 days, allowing for swift progression from lease agreement to construction and establishment of new facilities.
The park, the largest of its kind in the UK, has developed half of its nine million square feet site, with the 10-year extension expected to support the utilisation of the remaining space.
Alan Holland, chief executive officer of DP World London Gateway Logistics Park, said: "Our new 10-year Local Development Order, combined with our fantastic access to transport connections and important markets, makes London Gateway Logistics Park well placed to continue our rapid growth.
"I am delighted to continue our strong partnership with Thurrock Council ensuring we can support the creation of hundreds of new jobs by DP World and our customers, boost prosperity across the local area, and enable us to offer market leading levels of sustainability and innovation."
The park also sits within the government-backed Thames Freeport, established in 2021, providing tenants with financial benefits, including business rate, stamp duty, and national insurance contributions relief.
A previous ten-year LDO was agreed in 2013 and resulted in the construction of 17 state-of-the-art facilities for 16 occupiers, totalling more than four million square feet and creating 1,500 permanent jobs onsite.
DP World, which operates in 78 countries, handles 10 per cent of global containerised trade, and has logistics hubs at Southampton and London Gateway.
Lee Watson, councillor responsible for good growth at Thurrock Council, said: "The new LDO will help ensure that development of the site can continue, in a way that benefits the local economy and local people.
"It will help pave the way for inward investment which should help create good local jobs and bring other economic benefits to the borough."
