Police have confirmed a person has been pronounced dead after emergency services were called to the c2c line in south Essex.

All lines were blocked this afternoon as police were called to the line in Stanford-le-Hope after 3pm today.

This was following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Ambulance crews also attended and a person has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to the line in Stanford-le-Hope at 3.06pm on 27 March following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Train services running across the whole c2c network may be cancelled, delayed or diverted via Basildon as emergency services remain at the line.

TfL buses, Greater Anglia trains and rail replacement buses are accepting c2c tickets.
