A lorry driver has been rushed to hospital with 'life-changing' injuries after their vehicle overturned on the A13.

The incident happened around 6.15am today and has seen the London-bound carriageway closed throughout the morning.

Police say two lanes have now reopened and the road will be fully open at lunchtime.

A spokesman said the lorry overturned after it was involved in a crash with a car at North Stifford.

He added: "The driver of the lorry has been taken to hospital with injuries that are thought to be life-changing.

"Two lanes of the A13 have now reopened to traffic and the road is expected to fully reopen at around lunchtime.

"Our enquiries are ongoing, and we need anyone who saw anything or has dash cam footage to contact us."

The closure of the A13 led to queues of up to six-miles at one point, and long delays are still reported despite the partial reopening.
