THURROCK Citizens Advice Bureau based in Grays is looking to recruit volunteers from all over Thurrock to start training to be CAB advisers to local people.

The charity is holding a no obligation induction session on Wednesday, January 30 at 2pm at the Voluntary and Community Resource Centre, High Street, Grays, to allow prospective volunteers an insight into the training programme.

Mike Rawlings, manager of Thurrock CAB, said: "The challenge and variety that the CAB service offers and the new fully accessible premises means that we can train a larger cross section of the local population as CAB advisers.

"Also our outreach sessions in South Ockendon, Tilbury, Chadwell St Mary and Stanford-le-Hope require more volunteers to staff the service.

"Volunteering for the local CAB offers a real chance to develop skills, knowledge and confidence and volunteers can arrange their hours around other commitments.

"Those taking early retirement also find it of great benefit as a progression between leaving full time work to helping in the community on a part-time basis."

Local people with a minimum of six hours spare per week are being sought from all areas of Thurrock.

The induction session is at 2pm.
