RECENTLY my wife and I were in Grays Town centre at 9.45am on a Saturday.
It saddened me to see the old High Street in such a filthy condition.
Yes, there are a number of market stalls there, but the majority of the rubbish was obviously from the day before.
Our Council should be making more effort to keep the area clean, especially on busy days.
I have lived here for almost 60 years and remember when it was a bustling town, but now I am ashamed to say that when I walked around the corner by the town memorial, my first reaction was "what a grubby little place this has become."
There is little incentive to come to Grays these days, so the Council should be making more effort to at least keep it clean.
