I AM writing regarding an article entitled Waste Effort' printed in last week's Gazette.
As a resident of Thurrock I keep on reading about the recycling and how residents of the borough are working really hard to reduce waste levels, yet I have listened to several of my colleagues and family complaining about the recyclers whom collect our recycling and how they abuse their job role.
They go through bags that have been clearly labelled, they leave bags and boxes, they even leave smashed glass all over pavements and roads.
They use abusive hand gestures when approached yet no matter how many times a complaint is made there is no change.
And also how is the borough hitting its recycling targets when over the Christmas period residents found cardboard boxes, wrapping paper and other recycling materials still sitting outside their properties after the collection had been done. The only thing emptied was the blue box.
Was the rest not recycling?
