IN spite of the prevalent sickness almost 30 members of the Probus Club of Stanford-le-Hope and Corringham and their guests attended the January lunch meeting at the Langdon Hills Golf Centre, on Wednesday, January 9.
Speaker was Blue Badge Guide Gary Egerton, whose talk, entitled, Southwark - Bishops and Brothels,' was an expertly presented guided tour of the working area of London on the other side of the river.
Brian Billins, in whose own talks, this area of London, is featured, expressed the members appreciation, of a thoroughly interesting and entertaining talk, as he proposed the vote of thanks.
In closing the meeting, the president reminded members that the next lunch will be on Wednesday, February 13 at the Langdon Hills Golf Centre.
