A PARAMEDIC told how a man accused of killing his girlfriend's baby seemed genuinely concerned.

Sean Martin was the first paramedic to arrive to help 19-month-old Aimee Collins.

Mr Martin said when he arrived at the flat in Eden Green, South Ockendon, Aimee was lifeless and pale.

Giving evidence at Basildon Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday) Mr Martin told how the accused, Colin Kendrick, showed concern for the Aimee's condition.

He said: "The male (Kendrick) was panic stricken and worried.

"He didn't know what was wrong and seemed genuinely concerned."

The court also heard how Kendrick asked to hold Aimee's hand in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

He said: "He asked if she was going to be alright and if he could hold the baby's hand and I said he could."

Kendrick, 31, denies murdering Aimee on December 6 2005.

The trial continues.
