DETECTIVES are probing the mystery surrounding a man found with serious head injuries.
The 56-year-old man is fighting for his life after suffering serious wounds to his head but police remain baffled as to how he received the injuries.
Paramedics were called to Marsden House in High Street, Grays at around 8.15am this morning where they found the man lying unconscious.
They called in police to investigate but it is not known whether the man was the victim of a vicious assault of whether his injuries were the result of an accident.
He was taken to Basildon Hospital but later transferred to Queens Hospital in Romford where he remains in a critical condition.
The man is described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall and when he was found was wearing black shoes, a light-coloured jacket, a mustard brown jumper and smart brown trousers.
