A large police cordon and officer presence has been spotted at a town's playing field this morning.
The area of Billet Playing Fields in Stanford-le-Hope is shut off with police and force vehicles on the scene.
In the centre of the cordon is play equipment and various residents are taking to social media to post about the incident.
A variety of police vehicles are on scene including cars and vans after the incident.
A Essex Police spokesman said: "We are responding to an incident which is alleged to have occurred between 5pm and 11.50pm on Thursday 30 September 2021 in the Billet Field area of Stanford-le-Hope.
"No arrests have been made and detectives are progressing their enquiries. There will be a police presence in the area throughout the day."
