Disruption discended on the A127 this morning, with the road left partially blocked after pony and trap racing took place.

Essex Police say they have worked to resolve the disruption, which erupted on the A127 near to the Halfway House and Warley.

The team received reports shortly before 10am of the road being blocked and pony and trap racing taking place.

Two people have been arrested – one on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and one on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

A notice under Section 35 of the Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour Act has been put in place for the whole of the A127 between the M25 and the Rettendon turn-off.

This will give officers the power to move on anyone causing anti-social behaviour.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "The A127 is now open in both directions although the traffic flow may take some time return normal.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding."
