Forecasters have revealed when Southend is likely to be hit by thunderstorms this weekend. 

Weather warnings for heavy rain and storms are in place throughout Saturday and Sunday, with the Met Office saying there is the potential for flash flooding in places. 

It means storms could hit Southend at any point during the weekend, but the Met Office's forecast suggests Sunday is likely to be the day when the most storms are around. 

Here is the latest forecast for Southend this weekend:

Saturday AM

Cloud is expected to thicken overnight but there will be some sunshine in the morning. 

Heavy showers are most likely to hit between 10am and midday, though the chances are only rated at 30 per cent.

Temperatures will reach 19c by midday.

Saturday PM

The rest of the day is set to be cloudy but dry. There is the potential for some sunny spells from 5pm onwards. 

Temperatures will peak at 20c.

Another cloudy morning is forecast, but they may be broken up by some sunny spells. 

There is a 50 per cent chance of rain around 7am, before this then drops to 30 per cent by 10am. 

Temperatures will reach around 20c by late morning.

Sunday PM

The forecast says heavy, thundery showers should be expected from 1pm onwards. 

The most extreme weather is likely to be around that time, but there is a 60 per cent chance of heavy showers up until 7pm. 

Aside from rain, there will again be a mix of sun and cloud. 

A top temperature of 21c is expected.

The Met Office says conditions will be "changeable" next week, with further heavy showers and thunderstorms likely. 

It says it will feel cooler compared to recent days, with temperatures trending towards the average.

The forecast says there will be showers in Southend each day until at least Thursday.
