Police seized an e-scooter from a busy town centre – as officers remind users the vehicles are only legal on private property.

The e-scooter was seized by police in Grays Town Centre and officers say using them illegal can see users handed driving points and a heavy fine.

A spokesman for Essex Police Thurrock District Team said: “The Thurrock Town Centre Team seized this electric scooter from Grays Town Centre.

“Remember electric scooters are illegal to use on public roads or pathways and will be seized for no insurance.

“That’s 6 points on your driving licence, a £300 fine and your scooter crushed.”
