A MAN was hit by a vehicle multiple times before being attacked on the ground after a huge fight broke out.

Police have launched a probe after a vehicle was used to attack the victim before driving off from the scene in Grays.

The fight broke out at about 9.40pm last night in Argent Street.

Pictures circulated online show a large emergency services presence at the scene at 11pm.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "It was reported a fight had broken out between a number of men.

"The victim, a man aged in his 30s, was then struck by a vehicle a number of times before he was assaulted while on the ground.

"The victim sustained injuries to his head and leg which required hospital treatment.

"The vehicle was then driven from the scene.

"If anyone has information on the incident but has not yet spoken to us, we would encourage them to do so by calling 101 and quoting incident 1319 of June 4."
