The A13 will be closed this weekend for major works to demolish the old Orsett West Bridge.

In addition, the new Orsett West Bridge will need to be closed whilst the demolition takes place to ensure the safety of the travelling public.

The closures start at 9pm tonight 4 June and remain until 5am on Monday 7 June.

A13 traffic will be diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at the A128 (Orsett) junction.

Traffic wishing to travel northbound via the Orsett Cock Roundabout will be diverted via the A13 westbound to the A1012 (Stifford) junction and back again via the A13 eastbound.

Road users are asked to plan their journey in advance, with non-local traffic urged to use alternative routes such as the A127.

The demolition work will generate noise and some vibration and Thurrock Council apologise in advance for any disturbance.

The work is part of the A13 Road Widening Project. The project involves widening the road between Stanford-le-Hope and Orsett, replacing 4 bridges and installing traffic lights at the Orsett Roundabout to help manage vehicle flows.
