A SEAL pup cared for by a Thurrock animal charity has now been released back into the wild after being treated back to good health.

The young animal was very thin and had suffered nasty wounds.

It was staying at South Essex Wildlife Hospital in Orsett until it was healthy enough to be released on May 16.

A spokesman for South Essex Wildlife Hospital said: “The very sick grey seal pup that we have been working hard with to get him back to health since the beginning of April was released back home today now he is fat and healthy and his nasty, infected wounds are all nicely healed.”

Since 1995 the South Essex Wildlife Hospital has been providing veterinary care and rehabilitation for our wildlife and are open seven days a week, 365 days a year.
