A man was treated for burns after fire crews battled a garage blaze in Layer Marney.

Crews with Essex Fire Service were called to a garage fire in Stock House Road, Layer Marney, on Friday, at 4.39pm.

On arrival, firefighters reported that the fire had quickly spread from the garage to an outbuilding.

Incident Commander Dan Partridge said: "Tiptree's crew arrived at the scene first and worked hard to stop the fire from spreading.

"The garage contained two cars as well as LPG cylinders and an LPG bullet tank, but thanks to the quick action of the crew, the scene was made safe to tackle the fire."

Crews from Colchester and Tollesbury joined Tiptree's crew and extinguished the fire by 6pm.

The buildings have been completely destroyed by the fire.

One man was treated for burns at the scene.

Officers are investigating the cause.
