THE Conservative Party has held control of Thurrock Council in the latest elections.
The election was held in 17 of the borough’s 20 wards overnight on Thursday.
The results mean the Conservative party is in overall control of the council.
The current breakdown of seats are as follows:
- 29 Conservative (held 28 seats, gained 1)
- 16 Labour (held 16 seats, gained 1, lost 1)
- 3 Thurrock Independents (held 3 seats, gained 0)
- 1 Independent (held 1 seat, lost 1)
The overall turnout was 27.34 per cent.
The election for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) for Essex also took place on Thursday 6 May.
The results for the region will be available from Saturday 8 May and will be published online at thurrock.gov.uk.
