A RACING driver finished in the top ten during her latest championship.

Emily Linscott, 18, who went to St Clere’s School in Stanford-le-Hope, had her debut in the Formula 4 United States Championship at the end of March.

The driver took part in three races, battling torrential rain and other weather conditions, to finish two in 15th place, and one in eighth place.

This means Emily achieved her first target of finishing within the top ten.

She said: “I’m pleased with my driving this weekend. I’ve learnt so much from each of the races but I am still a long way off what I know I can deliver if I had a full testing programme, but I’m here and I’m fighting for what I can with every ounce of my skill, and I’m getting better and better each time I drive the car.

“I’m in Indianapolis now and ready to get back in the gym.”
