A TEENAGE motorcyclist has died after a crash in South Ockendon.

The accident took place just before 1.40pm on Saturday in Stifford Road.

A 19-year-old man, who was riding a black Honda motorbike, died at the scene.

Two people, a 29-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Both remain in custody.

Detective Sergeant Steve Holmes, of Essex Police's serious collision incident unit, is leading the investigation and is appealing for information from the public.

He said: "I particularly want to hear from anyone who either saw or took footage of a group of motorbikes, one black, one red and one yellow, being ridden by young men in the Aveley and South Ockendon areas in the lead up to the incident this afternoon.”

Stifford Road was closed for several hours whilst investigations took place at the scene.

Bus services had to be rerouted due to the collision.
