A trio of masked men broke into a Co-op during an early morning burglary.

A witness reported seeing three men in balaclavas trying to break into the Co-op in Princess Margaret Road, East Tilbury, at 1.30am this morning (April 9).

Police crews arrived ten minutes later and arrested two people. A third was found hiding below the till.

Two men, both aged 36 and from Tilbury, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

A 22-year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of drugs.

They remain in custody for questioning.
