A drug dealer has been acquitted of his alleged involvement in the murder of man who was attacked with a machete.

Daniel Adger was assaulted inside a flat in Eden Green, South Ockendon, on the afternoon of Monday, August 21, 2017.

After he’d left the flat, he managed to raise the alarm to passers-by, whilst a man continued to attack him with a machete causing injuries to his legs, body and head.

Despite the efforts of the public and paramdeics, Mr Adger died while being transferred to hospital.

On Tuesday, Luis Jordan was found not guilty of murder after a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

He was also cleared of robbery, possessing a firearm, and GBH. 

But the 36-year-old, of Church Road, Manor Park, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Senior investigating officer, Chief Inspector Daniel Stoten, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “This was a complex investigation that needed to be considered by a jury.

"My thoughts are with Mr Adger’s family at this difficult time.”

Two men have previously been jailed for Mr Adger’s murder.

Daniel Boakye, 32, of Western Green, Dagenham, is serving a minimum of 11 years and eight months in prison after he admitted a charge of murder. 

He was handed a life sentence for the killing. 

Zakaria Lahra, 20, of Dee Close, Upminster, was convicted of Mr Adger's murder and he too was given life in prison - and will serve a minimum of 14 years behind bars.
