Small, local builders are encouraged to register to take part in a pilot scheme unlocking housing development opportunities with Thurrock Council before applications close in two weeks’ time.

The initiative, launched by Local Partnerships, will close on Friday 5 March 2021. It aims to provide support to small, local businesses during the planning application process and offer eligible businesses the chance to work with the council delivering high-quality housing within the borough.

Cllr Barry Johnson, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “We’ve received expressions of interest from local builders but we’re keen to hear from more eligible businesses who would really benefit from this pilot scheme about potential house building opportunities before Friday 5 March.

“This is a chance for local people to bring further diversity to affordable housing suppliers within Thurrock that will benefit local people, drive transformation in the area and support the local economy.

“If you are interested in being part of this pilot scheme, we encourage you to register your organisation on the council’s procurement portal at Small Site Housing Development (The Development of Affordable Homes in Thurrock).”

Thurrock Council was one of three UK councils selected in January to test the pilot scheme launched by Local Partnerships.
