A volunteer at South Essex Wildlife Hospital rescued a badger which is believed to have been hit by a car.

When the badger arrived at the hospital, staff realised the animal also had other health issues.

The badger had some nasty infested bite wounds and his heart and lungs were showing abnormalities on an X-ray.

Posting on social media, the hospital said: “One of our volunteers rescued a very large badger that may have been hit by a car but has several other issues going on too. We are of course trying our best for him. He is sedated on pain relief to try and keep him more comfortable but he was clearly very unhappy.”
