Four areas in south Essex have now been removed from the Government’s coronavirus hotspots map.

It means the infection rate in each area is now close to zero and fewer than three new Covid cases have been recorded there in the seven days ending February 13.

Cases continues to fall across all parts of Essex, with the average rate of infection in the county now just above 100 per 100,000 people.

The areas in south Essex that are now no longer highlighted on the coronavirus hotspots map are:

  • Rochford Town and Canewdon
  • Bursteads
  • Billericay Central and Sunnymede
  • Little Thurrock North
  • Corringham North and London Gateway

Other areas which are close to being removed from the map include Langdon Hills and Wickford Shotgate.

Thurrock Gazette:

Both areas have had less than four new Covid cases recorded in the latest weekly period.

At the other end of the scale, the West Shoebury and Victoria areas of Southend have the highest localised infection rates in south Essex.

It means both areas have infection rates above 200 cases per 100,000 people.
