A yellow weather warning for snow has been issued for tomorrow.

The warning, put out by the Met Office, covers London and parts of the South East and eastern England.

And Essex is just one of the counties affected by the warning, which is active from 3am until 8pm on Saturday (January 16).

The Met Office has said as much as 10cm, or four inches, of snow could fall over areas under warning.

A spokesperson said: "A band of heavy snow may bring disruption as it moves eastwards on Saturday."

Here's what they said you could expect:

  • Possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel
  • Possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers
  • Some rural communities could become cut off
  • Power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected

Southend Councillor Matt Dent has now warned residents to be careful when out in the area over the weekend.

He said: "The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for snow tomorrow, (Saturday January 16), from 03.00 to 20.00, which covers Southend.

"Be careful if you're going to be out and about in it."
