Homes and cars have been cut off by very deep flood waters in the borough.
Shocking images show the deluge in Ruskin Road, Grays almost completely covering cars and vans near homes.
It comes after most of the county has been battered by torrential rain and deep flooding.
Shane Hebb, Tory Deputy Leader of Thurrock Council said: "Just spoke to the council who are busy getting sand bags to those who need them.
“Very appreciative of the efforts to try and make this difficult day any easier if possible. Thanks to Essex Fire Service for their on hand support too.
“We have seen some very bad flooding across Stanford West today, which causes distress to families and business in the area. We have asked for causes to be fully understood. Today has not been a good day for local households and workplaces.”
