MOTORCYCLISTS who 'blatantly' broke lockdown rules have been fined and had their bikes seized.

Police say they took action against the riders following several reports from the public about antisocial behaviour.

The scrambler-style motorbikes were being ridden in the Butt Lane area of Stanford-le-Hope and at the Maple Park Estate.

Offices located those responsible and took enforcement action.

A police spokesman said: "As well as being anti-social, this is a clear and blatant breach of Government’s Covid-19 regulations.

"We attended and located the motorbikes and their riders.

"The motorbikes have been seized and the riders have been issued with fines for breaching the Covid-19 regulations.

"We know this is a really challenging time for everyone but it’s really important we all follow the rules and do the right thing.

"By doing that, you’re helping to protect the NHS and save lives.

"You also give our officers more time to help people, keep you safe, and catch criminals."
