A FAMILY of a terminally-ill girl is demanding Covid information and care for those battling life-threatening conditions during the pandemic.

The family of Kennedy Mercer, eight-years-old, from Grays say there’s so little information regarding extremely vulnerable children and the Covid vaccine and when they can expect it.

The youngster, who has fought Covid, is the sister of Kelsey Stratford who is a cast member on TOWIE who has supported her sister’s cause.

Dad Paul said: “We have absolutely zero information from the Government on when vulnerable children will be eligible for the Covid vaccine.

“Any information would be useful rather then just hearing it doesn’t impact children over and over again.

“Kennedy is doing very well. She has thrived since receiving Spinraza – a medication used in treating spinal muscular atrophy.

“We didn’t leave our front door for 18 weeks during the first lockdown, no one came in or out at all.

“Despite making huge sacrifice Kennedy still caught Covid in November. She ended up in Great Ormand Street Hospital and we nearly lost her.

“She developed pneumonia, sepsis and kidney infections and was the first Great Ormand Street Hospital child to be treated with Covid blood plasma.

“She worked so hard and with the support of the hospital pulled through.

“We now know Kennedy, without doubt, is extremely vulnerable to Covid.

“She very nearly died and we may not get so lucky next time.”

The worried dad said there are a number of children with extreme illness who would lose their lives if they catch Covid.

He’s demanding clarity from Government about when they will be entitled to the vaccine.
