AN e-scooter has been seized after the rider almost ran over a child.
In the dramatic scenes in Basildon Town Centre, a mother quickly pulled her child out of harms way, before the scooter caused a serious injury.
Police officers seized the e-scooter, which the force says can achieve speeds of up to 50mph.
This comes after the Echo revealed today that an e-scooter's will be hitting the streets of Basildon in under two weeks time, as part of an Essex County Council trial.
The scooters will be available to use across the town from December 7, for up to a week.
These scooters will be capped to 15mph.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "The below E-Scooter was confiscated from a male in Basildon town centre having nearly ran over a child, the mother reacted quickly and pulled the child out of harm’s way, without her quick reaction serious injury could have been caused to the child.
"This Scooter can do up to 50mph and can cause serious injury to a child or an adult."
Essex County Council has said officers, and Spin, who are operating the trial, are working with Essex Police to ensure the safe use of the scooters.
The force will now be holding a Q and A session on Sunday, on Facebook.
