Clocks are going back this Sunday meaning that thanks to daylight savings we gain an extra hour to enjoy our weekend. But what is there to do?

On the last Sunday of October the clocks 'fall back' which means that this Sunday, October 25, the clocks will go back an hour at 2am.

Clocks on smartphones and computers should update automatically but older analogue clocks and devices may need to be changed manually.

Daylight savings brings darker, longer nights and shorter days - clocks will go forward and we will lose an hour on Sunday, March 28 2021.

Luckily, there's loads to do here in Bournemouth whether you want to stay in or go outdoors.

Here's some of the things you could do with that extra hour this weekend:

Bournemouth and Poole 'Selfie Wall Trail'

The selfie trail has been running since May 2018 - have you tried it yet? (Image: Bournemouth tourism).

If you haven't yet had a chance to really absorb the brilliant artwork along our award-winning stretch of coast then now could be the perfect time.

With less tourists than summer, autumn brings a sense of calm and space to the beachfront.

Thanks to local gallery, Ambassadeur Art, a variety of artists have created a series of murals that make fun and colourful backdrops for your selfies.

The murals stretch from Sandbanks all the way to Southbourne and whether you want to take selfies or just soak in the sea air and colourful art, it's a great way to jazz up your weekend walk.

Follow the 'Selfie Wall Trail' on foot or by bike and don’t forget to take a pit stop – there are plenty of seafront cafés and restaurants along the way.

Pine walk art exhibition

The Pine Walk Art Exhibition, better known as the Westover Art and Makers Market was set up almost 60 years ago and is a popular place for artists to show their work, and art lovers to browse and buy it.

Displays include painting, photography, sculptures and digital art.

Nestled in the very heart of the town centre in the Lower Gardens, the market is ideally located to enjoy a stroll with the squirrels followed by a bite to eat in one of our many restaurants and cafes.

Highcliffe Castle photography competition

Bournemouth Echo:

Take photos on your phone or camera and enter them into the competition.

With your extra hour why not visit the Highcliffe Castle and take part in the 'all the little things' photography competition.

This year's theme, 'all the little things' is a celebration of all the little things we’ve learned to appreciate as the world lives through the Coronavirus pandemic.

The organisers at Highcliffe Castle want to see 'the small things in life that bring you big joy' captured in a photo on your phone or camera.

Anyone aged five and over can participate and the winning photographs will be displayed in Highcliffe Castle in 2021.
