A COLCHESTER family are set to star in a national television show which aims to find out Britain's favourite tea.

Hannah Gizatullin and Marat Musa, along with children Adam, 11, and Emmie, three, who suffers from Kniest Dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder, are among the families testing the tea.

Yorkshire Tea vs PG Tips: Battle of the Brews is a programme which is bound to have tea fans across the country rowing on their sofas.

Hannah said the family were delighted to tackle part.

She said: "We couldn’t believe we were chosen to take part, we filmed during lockdown and it was so good to have something to look forward to."

Gazette:

For centuries the British have adored tea ever since its introduction to these shores in the 17th Century.

Part of the spread has seen the growth of major brands which people grow extraordinarily attached to.

In PG Tips v Yorkshire Tea the show features two of Britain’s leading producers of tea – the traditional favourite against the new interloper which topped the tea sales charts for the first time ever in 2019 selling £103 million against PG's £96.8 million.

These two brands go head to head in a series of categories looking at issues like as sales, heritage and innovation.

The show also chronicles tea’s fascinating history – including the surprising story behind the invention of the tea bag.

As well as revelling in some of the classic ads these two teas have produced - starring as diverse talents as Sean Bean, Jonny Vegas, a troop of chimpanzees and a knitted monkey.

There’s also blind taste tests which show how difficult it is to recognise what we’re convinced is our favourite tea, a look at the shape of tea bags, a guide to making the perfect cuppa, a critique of dunking biscuits and a quest to see if aficionados of particular brands can be tempted to love their competitors.

At the end of the contest there can only be one winner.

Yorkshire Tea vs PG Tips: Battle of the Brews is on Channel 5 at 7pm Sunday.
