THIS week’s Down Memory Lane photograph from the Thurrock Library Collection shows the Rising Sun Public House in Grays High Street in the 1970s.
The list of landlords can be traced back to 1791, when Daniel Grainger was the publican.
It was later taken over by the British Legion as ‘the Mess’ and is now a doctors’ surgery and is one of the last remaining parts of the old High Street.
